Where is Czech #innovation headed, and are we missing the boat on key technologies?
In the Czech Republic, we’re great at innovating, but we’re not good at retaining the fruits of our labor over the long term. While 60% of patents owned by foreign parent companies are still active and generating revenue after ten years, that figure is just 6% for purely Czech owners. Czech entities often file patents for less significant innovations, and moreover, 4 out of 5 of them protect their innovations only in our small domestic market.
Our data from analyses prepared for Technologická agentura České republiky show how urgently we need a strategic shift. If we want to move towards a #knowledgeBased economy, we must support domestic technology leaders in growth sectors.
What does #patentOffshoring mean in the Czech context, and what is needed to systematically support the global reach of Czech companies?
Our co-CEO Vojtěch Kadlec discussed this on the program “Zaostřeno” on Český rozhlas alongside Martin Jiránek and Miroslav Rihak.
