Absolutely Indispensable Patent Data, summer edition

🍄 Czech summer, especially if the weather looks like this year, inevitably involves mushroom picking. So here we have another part of our #absolutelyIndispensablePatentData series, this time on the topic of mushrooms (aka #datanahouby).

It is not a homogeneous group of #inventions. The mushroom related patents (worth $3,606,600) are distributed across several thematic areas: 

- 11 #patents (24 %) are related to yeast, a mushroom subclass, most of them being connected to the #beer production

- 17 patents integrate mushrooms into food, dietary supplements, or medicine, including innovations such as fondants, jellies, specialty #chocolate with oyster mushrooms, and a novel method of beer production; 

- 3 patents are inspired by mushroom morphology, particularly its ergonomic shape, for applications such as airbags or lamps; 

- 8 patents incorporate #mushrooms as materials or as sources of industrially utilized compounds; 

- 5 patents focus on using various forms of mushrooms as fertilizers in #agriculture; 

- 0 patents are really directly related to mushroom picking
